Old Faithful Geyser of California. Experience the natural extravaganza of California's Old Faithful Geyser throw a tower of thousands of gallons of water skyward every 40 minutes.

Petrified Forest. Step back 3 million years and follow the trail of majestic petrified redwood giants in a grove in the California wine country. Take a guided ½-mile walking tour of the spectacular upper meadow and learn about the volcanic activity and petrification of the forest. A 100 foot-high Ash Fall contains deposits of volcanic material. Enjoy rare native wildflowers, live oaks, a scenic overview of Mt. St. Helena, and many types of minerals and crystals.

Mt. St. Helena. At the head of Napa Valley, Mount St. Helena is a premier hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, sightseeing, and hand gliding destination. Rising behind Calistoga, Mt. St. Helena is one of the remaining volcanic mountains in the Mayacamas range made up of 2.4 million year old volcanic rocks. Preserved within Robert Louis Stevenson State Park, the 4,344 feet mountain overlooks Napa Valley. At the peak of Mt. St. Helena Hiking Trail, is a scenic 4-mile hike to the summit.

Napa River. One of the largest California Central Coast rivers, Napa River runs through Napa Valley on a 55-mile journey from the headwaters of Mt. St. Helena to the San Pablo Bay. The Napa River is one of the most significant fish streams on the West Coast, brimming with steelhead, rainbow trout, Chinook salmon, sunfish, smallmouth bass, white catfish, brown bullhead, Sacramento pikeminnow, Pacific lamprey, and California freshwater shrimp. Robert Louis Stevenson State Park. Robert Louis Stevenson State Park is where the author of Treasure Island spent his honeymoon in 1880, and is the inspiration for "The Silverado Squatters," the story of his stay in Calistoga. His cabin site is identified on the trail to the summit. The area features rough terrain with evergreen forests in the canyons and chaparral on south slopes. There is a five-mile hike to the top of Mt. St. Helena, which provides unsurpassed views of the Napa Valley and the Bay Area. Call (707) 942-4575.

Bothe-Napa Valley State Park. Forested 1,800 acres with elevations ranging from 400 to 2,000 feet, Bothe-Napa Valley State Park features pine and redwood groves for hiking, picnics and swimming. Bale Grist Mill. Built in 1846, Bale Grist Mill is still functional for grinding grain into flour.. The 37-foot overshot waterwheel, fed by a redwood log flume, drives mill stones imported from France. The Mill is located 10 minutes south of Calistoga.  [Top]
Calistoga Depot. Built in 1868, Calistoga is the second oldest depot in California and listed on the National Register for historic buildings. It includes six restored railcars housing historical exhibits and shops.

Sharpsteen Museum.
Named for Ben Sharpsteen - animator, producer and director for Walt Disney Studios - the Sharpsteen Museum houses exhibits on the history of Calistoga. The attached Sam Brannan Cottage offers unique architecture - a wrap-around porch and huge palms planted when the house was built in 1860 - and period furnishings. Call (707) 942-5911.

Napa Valley Brewing Company. In 1987, the Calistoga Inn gave birth to Calistoga beer and the Napa Valley Brewing Company. The Inn was the first establishment to brew beer commercially in Napa County since the days of prohibition. In 1989, the brewery started producing Calistoga Wheat Ale, Calistoga Pilsner Calistoga Red Ale and Calistoga Porter - as well as specialty beers - Calistoga Stout, Calistoga IPA and Calistoga Barley Wine.
